McClain seeks separate trial from Madigan amid defense strategy concerns

Michael McClain, a longtime confidant of former Speaker Mike Madigan, is scheduled to go on trial with him on October 8. The charges include racketeering, bribery, fraud, and attempted extortion. However, McClain's legal team contends that Madigan's defense strategy appears to involve placing blame on McClain.

McClain’s lawyers are seeking a separate trial for their client from the former House Speaker.

"Michael McClain’s lawyers want him tried separately from ex-House Speaker Madigan," reported the Chicago Sun-Times (suntimes.com).
