State Representative Dan Ugaste and Senator Don DeWitte are teaming up to host a free document shredding event and food drive for the community. The event will take place at the Salvation Army Tri-City Corps Joe K. Anderson Community Center in St. Charles on Saturday, May 4 from 9:00-11:00 AM. The initiative aims to help residents safely dispose of old documents while also supporting those in need by collecting non-perishable food items for the Salvation Army Food Pantry.
“I am very pleased to be offering these free events alongside Senator DeWitte,” expressed Rep. Ugaste. “We hope residents take the opportunity to safely and securely dispose of their documents while also helping out their fellow residents in need by donating non-perishable food items to the Salvation Army’s food pantry.”
Senator DeWitte also encouraged participation in the event, stating, “As people are gathering their sensitive documents for free, safe and secure destruction, I hope they will look through their kitchen pantry and grab a few nonperishable items to donate.”
Participants are urged to stay in their vehicles and follow traffic signs during the event. The shred truck staff will assist in unloading cars, and parking will be available for those who wish to witness their documents being shredded. It is important to note that only paper folders, staples, and paper clips are acceptable for shredding, while items like large binder clips, plastic file folders, and old floppy discs cannot be processed. Moreover, no electronics will be accepted for recycling or disposal at the event.
The document shredding event and food drive will take place on Saturday, May 4, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Salvation Army Tri-City Corps Joe K. Anderson Community Center located at 1710 S. 7th Ave., St. Charles.
