Elgin, IL – On Tuesday, September 26, 2023, just after 5:30 a.m., members of the Elgin Fire Department responded to the 100 block of Washburn St. for a report of a porch roof on fire in an occupied home.

Responding fire companies arrived approximately 5 minutes after being dispatched and found flames at the roofline of the front porch extending up the side of the second floor exterior.
