Kane County Public Health Committee met June 21.

Madam Chair Strathmann called the meeting to order at 9:00 AM.

Madam Chair Strathmann stated that the monthly financial reports were on file. No oral report was made.
5. Public Comments
Dr. Shari Bresnihan from the Children's Health Defense - Illinois Chapter detailed harmful vaccine components and their affects.
Kane County resident Roxanne Shilka expressed her concern with the passing of Resolution 23-724, which seeks to hire a Communicable Disease Surveillance Coordinator.
6. Animal Control
A. Animal Control Reports (attached)
Animal Control Admin. Youngsteadt stated that the monthly report was on file. He announced that the last three animal vaccine clinic event dates have been posted - August 5, September 13, & October 28, 2023. Discussion ensued.
7. Executive Director Report (M. Isaacson)
A. Current Health Updates
Exec. Health Dir. Isaacson presented an opioid project that the Health Department is involved in. This project embeds peers who have opioid experience into emergency departments. He spoke on the opioid epidemic, grant funding, available assistance, and education. Discussion ensued regarding the contact tracing versus the term 'surveillance' in the public health industry.
Health Protection Dir. Onwuta explained the importance of contact tracing and quarantining. Discussion ensued regarding the transmission of communicable diseases.
B. Authorizing Acceptance for the IDPH Strengthening Illinois Public Health Administration (SPIA-24) Grant

Committee member Young mentioned a recently awarded patent that would allow an electronic device to receive and transmit information remotely about a subject with a specific ID. He spoke on individual scores generated from this patent based on vaccine status. Discussion ensued regarding patent language, acquisition process, timeline, and validity.
Young made a motion to place a resolution on the July 2023 Public Health Committee agenda, requesting that the Kane County Health Department update their website information to include MRNA vaccine risks. This motion was seconded by Juby. Discussion ensued.
