Geneva resident Susan Altman has announced her candidacy against Democrat incumbent U.S. Rep. Bill Foster.
“I've had no desire to run for political office but as a mother, I'm witnessing the fall of this country, and it was time someone did something to fix the problems that exist right now,” Altman said, according to The Illinois Republican. “It's for the future of all our children. You see what is happening with our economy and there is no relief. Crime is out of control. Our seniors and veterans have been forgotten, and it breaks my heart. My plan as a Conservative is to reign in spending for proxy wars overseas and the false narrative of climate change. That money belongs to the people of the United States to spend at home.”
Altman touts herself as "the most skilled candidate to solve our Supply Chain issues." She relies on her "30 years of experience working directly on the supply chain, and in a myriad of positions, giving me a well-rounded perspective."
“With 30+ years in Corporate America, I know how to get our economy back on track,” her website reads. “As gas prices rise close to double digits per gallon, and our grocery bill has doubled and in some cases tripled, we must take immediate action. America must become energy independent and food independent.”
Altman supports building new refineries and plans to work on opening up the Keystone Pipeline and looks forward to "producing just as much or more oil as we did in the last administration."
"We cannot keep depleting our reserves! I also support our farmers and their ability to farm and make it affordable to purchase raw materials, diesel and fertilizer to grow crops," Altman said. "Our families in District 11 can no longer afford these drastic costs at the pump and at the kitchen table. We have to bring businesses back to America and to District 11."
Altman stated that "the 11th district has been forgotten and the people no longer have a voice with Foster as their representative."
The 11th Congressional District encompasses the majority of McHenry and Kane Counties, along with portions of Boone, Lake, DeKalb, DuPage, Cook, and Will Counties.
Altman was a candidate in a crowded GOP field in the 2022 primary where she secured 12.1% of the vote (6,017 votes).
