At its April 13 meeting, the Huntley Village Board honored a police officer for saving the life of a resident.
Village president Timothy Hoeft and Police Chief Robert Porter called up Officer Doug Ingallinera to honor him for his life-saving efforts.
“Battalion Chief Eric Bentley stated that Officer Ingallinera’s quick response and immediate actions and performing lifesaving measures along with their personnel and paramedics, was a great team effort and a testament to our positive working relationship,” Porter said. “Officer Ingellinera’s actions are a positive reflection of the Huntley Police Department's mission statement and that the Huntley Police Department is committed to providing professional services for a well-trained staff. Officer Ingellinera relied on his training and his professional approach to his duties to in fact save a life.”
On Dec 6, 2022, just before noon, Ingallinera responded to a 911 call made from a local fitness center where Dennis Wolff had collapsed and was unresponsive on the second floor running track. Fitness center employees and personnel tried first aid, administering a shock with an automated external defibrillator (AED), but by the time officer Ingallinera and Huntley Fire Department personnel arrived on scene, Wolff still did not have a pulse. The fire personnel and Officer Ingallinera took turns performing chest compressions, and after another shock from the AED, Wolff acquired a pulse. He was taken to a hospital where he recovered.
Porter discussed recent shootings across the country and praised the efforts of the first responders who risk their own lives to save the lives of others.
Wolff was in attendance at the meeting and thanked his rescuers for their actions.
In other business, the board discussed renovations and redevelopment of the former Village Hall at 11704 Coral St.
The board will meet again at 7 p.m. on April 27 at 10987 Main St.
