At the Feb. 14 District 300 school board meeting, the Pledge Allegiance was led by students from Eastview Elementary School.
The board was told the students were chosen by their teachers to represent the school because of their exemplary behavior and attitudes in school.
Eastview Principal Meggan Buchanan introduced the students to the board and shared a bit about what made them such star students.
“We are thrilled to be here with you tonight," Buchanan said. "Before you are seven of our students that were selected by their teachers as exhibiting East View excellence every day. I'm proud of each and every one of you. Thank you for having us.”
Buchanan told the board Lawson Pacyga, the youngest of the group, is kind and hardworking. He knows the importance of giving his best effort every day and shows great respect for his classmates and his teachers.
The board learned Camila Felix is a very thoughtful student, and a great role model. She accepts any task or challenge given to her, and isn’t afraid to ask questions when she doesn’t fully understand something.
Buchanan said Jaxton Rowley is a known leader at school, both inside of the classroom and out at recess. He is a kind friend, and listens to all of his peers, doing his best to make everyone feel welcomed.
Matthew Nichols was introduced as a hardworking and intelligent second grader, one of the best in his class. His classmates appreciate him and his willingness to help whenever someone asks.
The board was told Alyssa Schroeter knows how to push herself to achieve all of her goals. She is an exemplary student who respects all school values while striving to learn and do more every day.
Reese Kieras, Buchanan said, is a wonderful student in her classroom. She is always willing to lend a hand to a classmate or a teacher in need, she follows the rules and sets a great example for everyone around her. She loves school, and it shows in her dedication to her work and attitude.
Buchanan told the board Gunnar Kilanksi is known as one of the most polite students in the entire elementary school. He is respectful of everyone around him, from the youngest student to the oldest administrator, and is also the leading expert in world geography.
After the pledge, the board members thanked the students and their families for coming out to the meeting, and wished them luck with the rest of the school year. The students shook each board members' hand before heading out.
