City of Geneva Natural Resources Committee met Feb. 1.

• Rain Barrels for sale

i. Barrels are $75 each.

• Greening Geneva Initiative

i. The trees we planted are asleep

ii. Followed up with Kane County. No answer.

• Wine, Cheese, and Trees

i. WCT 2023 will be a live event at the Geneva Public Library.

ii. Things are moving along for the event.

• Fabyan Preserve Stewardship

i. Workdays began October 8, 2022. Schedule was sent out and posted by City.

• Elm Park Restoration Work

i. Update from Kelvin

• NRC Facebook page and Instagram

i. Update of meeting with City

• Recycling Bins on 3rd Street

i. Update from Mel.

• Dark Sky Initiative

i. NRC to continue to promote the Dark Sky Initiative.

• Tree Ordinance

i. Based on NRC recommendations, there are several sections of the City Code that need to be amended in relation to tree preservation, tree protection, and landscaping.

6. New Initiatives

• Create an education piece to reduce plastic and styrofoam at restaurants.

• Mosquito abatement program awareness for need to spray.
