1. MEETING CALLED TO ORDER

The Mayor called the meeting to order at 7:30 pm.

2. INVOCATION followed by PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE

Alderman Connelly led the Pledge of Allegiance.

Motion by Ald. Chanzit, seconded by Ald. Wolf , to approve the consent agenda. Motion carried 12 yea/ 0 nay/ 2 absent.

7. MATTERS FROM THE PUBLIC: (For Items NOT On The Agenda) None seen.

8. PROCLAMATION: Brice Worley Day

Ald. Leman read the proclamation. Mayor Shielke invited Brice to the podium to accept the proclamation, and Brice addressed the council with his gratitude.

Motion by Ald. Leman, seconded by Ald. Wolf , to approve the proclamation. Motion carried 12 yea/ 0 nay/ 2 absent.

9. CHAMBER OF COMMERCE

President Margaret Perreault delivered her report on the recent and upcoming activities of the Chamber of Commerce.

She introduced her guest, Paul Trajkovski, from Hentzen Coatings. He shared a video about the history of the company, which acquired BASF’s Batavia holdings in 2004, and some of the applications for the products made by Hentzen Coatings.

10. RESOLUTION 22-108-R: Approving A Resolution Accepting Public Utility Easements At 1459 Louis Bork Drive (CCB 10/25/22 COW 11/01/22 12/0) CS

Motion by Ald. Malay, seconded by Ald. Solfa, to approve the resolution. Motion carried 12 yea/ 0 nay/ 2 absent.

11. RESOLUTION 22-109-R: Approving A Resolution Accepting Public Utilities Easement At 225 S. Harrison Street (RB 10/6/2022 COW 11/01/22 12/0) CS

Motion by Ald. Malay, seconded by Ald. Solfa, to approve the resolution. Motion carried 12 yea/ 0 nay/ 2 absent.

12. ORDINANCE 22-51: 2023 Wages And Salaries For Non-Collectively Bargained Employees (WB COW 11/01/22 11/1) GS

Motion by Ald. Chanzit, seconded by Ald. Malay, to approve the ordinance. Motion carried 12 yea/ 0 nay/ 2 absent.

14. ORDINANCE 22-53: 2023 Payment For Emergency Services Disaster Agency Volunteer Members (WB COW 11/01/22 12/0) GS

Motion by Ald. Chanzit, seconded by Ald. Malay, to approve the ordinance. Motion carried 12 yea/ 0 nay/ 2 absent.

15. CITY ADMINISTRATOR'S REPORT

Administrator Newman delivered her report. She announced that the vacancy for economic development manager will be filled by Anthony Isom.

16. OTHER BUSINESS

Ald. Connelly recognized National First Responder’s Day (October 28th) and thanked the people serving Batavia as first responders.

Administrator Newman announced the filling of two deputy chief positions in the Batavia Fire Department. They will be sworn in at the next City Council meeting.

Ald. Wolff updated the council on the Batavia High School football team’s next games. Conversation ensued regarding the high quality extracurricular programs based at the Batavia High School.

17. MAYOR’S REPORT

Mayor Schielke delivered his report. He noted the upcoming Elfstrom Memorial Greenway dedication on Saturday, November 12th. Review recording for comments in full.

18. ADJOURNMENT

Motion by Ald. Wolf , seconded by Ald. Solfa, to adjourn. Motion carried by voice vote. The meeting adjourned at 8:29 pm.
