Rep. Dan Ugaste (R-St. Charles) recently shared a link on his Facebook page to a CBS Chicago story about the release of The DCFS Inspector General's Annual Report to the Governor and the General Assembly.
"For DCFS Director Marc Smith and his 2,900 employees, the wellbeing of children is job one," the CBS Chicago story said. "But the kids who lean on DCFS as a safety net are falling through it at a pace not seen in decades."
According to CBS Chicago, "DCFS is in charge of keeping the most vulnerable kids in Illinois safe and cared for, but a just-released report details that in the last year alone 11 children housed either in foster care or at at child welfare facilities have died."
