The Aurora women's cross country team is ranked 9th in the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Midwest Regional Rankings, which were announced on Monday.
This is the first time since 2016 that the Spartan women's cross country team has earned a regular season regional ranking.
The Spartans are coming off a strong showing at the Aurora Invitational where they placed 5th among 15 teams. They were led by a second place finish from Deyanneira Colon Maldonado breaking her own AU course record. Abby Liesen also ran a faster time than the previous AU course best. Rounding out the top 7 for the Spartans were Madison Etheridge, N'Dya Fields, Shaley Gonzalez, Emily Fetzer, and Katy Liesen.
AU will be back on their home course for both the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference championship and the Midwest Regional Championship.
The next competition for the Aurora cross country team is on Saturday October 15 in La Crosse, Wisconsin.
