Judson University issued the following announcement on Jan. 4
The Judson University Baseball Program has high expectations for the 2022 season after the Eagles finished in third place in the CCAC and appeared in the NCCAA National Tournament semifinals in 2021.
The Collegiate Baseball publication releases a list of "players to watch" in the NCAA and NAIA levels. Of the four CCAC players listed, three were Judson University players: Dayne Frederick, Alec Spang, and Andreas Reaume.
Frederick was among the team leaders in numerous categories and is among the best all-around outfielders in the conference. In 45 games in 2021, he hit .319 with six home runs and 33 RBI. He also added six stolen bases on the campaign.
Alec Spang made his first season at Judson memorable. He hit .388 with seven home runs, 14 extra-base hits, and 40 RBI. His on-base percentage was .456 and had a .572 slugging percentage. Spang was named an NCCAA All-Region and CCAC All-Conference first team member.
Andreas Reaume was among the most durable and consistent starters for Judson this past spring as he finished with a 3-2 record and a 3.83 ERA in nine starts. He led the team with 73 strikeouts and was among the team leaders in opponents' batting average at .212.
"Proud of our guys' recognition, it's well deserved," said Head Coach Mike Guilfoyle. "They have all put in a lot of hard work and dedication."
Judson begins its season on February 27 in the Russmatt Tournament in Orlando, Florida.
