Gary Rabine for Governor has issued the following press release:
Woodstock, IL – Illinois Republican candidate for governor, Gary Rabine, called upon members of the Geneva Unit District 304 School Board Tuesday to immediately fire Geneva H.S. French teacher Toni Tortorello-Allaway, who in an expletive-laden TikTok she posted late last week, threatened violence against a grandmother she said was not wearing her mask properly.
Tortorello-Allaway also said in her TikTok that she would "throw down" on the grandmother for disrespecting a song she called the "black national anthem."
"Like most Illinoisans who watched this video, I am disturbed and disgusted that these ugly and dehumanizing words came from a taxpayer-funded public-school teacher," Rabine said. "Toni Tortorello-Allaway should be nowhere near children, much less instructing them."
Rabine called upon the seven members of Geneva 304's school board-- Taylor Egan, Mike McCormick, Larry Cabeen, Dan Choi, Jackie Forbes, Tamatha Meek and Alicia Saxton-- to act immediately to terminate Tortorello-Allaway and send a message that their priority is the well-being of students, not rationalizing the bad behavior of adults with whom they agree politically.
"If she worked in the private sector, Tortorello-Allaway would have been fired immediately," Rabine said. "Illinois school board members are charged with holding district teachers to the highest standards. We should demand no less for our children. Children must become the priority again in our K-12 system-- not guaranteeing jobs for self-absorbed, profane adults.”
