I. Call to Order

The Forest Preserve District Planning and Utilization Committee meeting was held at 9:30 AM at the Administration Offices located at Kane County Government Center, 719 S. Batavia Ave., Bldg. A, Geneva, IL 60134. The meeting was opened by Chairman Barbara Wojnicki at 9:34 AM. Remote=*

IV. Bids and Proposals

A. Presentation and Approval of an Amendment to the Fox River Trail - Union Pacific Railroad Review Fees

The Forest Preserve District of Kane County and UPRR have an existing agreement that allows various improvements on UPRR property. In addition, this agreement requires fees be paid by the District for UPRR third-party review of the project. As the construction winds down, the District needs to increase the UPRR review fee by an additional $20,000 to cover the final anticipated UPRR review fees. To date, the District has expended nearly $60,000 related to UPRR review fees. Sufficient funds totaling $20,000 are available in the Construction Development Account for this expense.

V. New or Unfinished Business

A. Presentation and Approval for the Parking Lot Expansion Design at Raceway Woods Forest Preserve in Carpentersville

The Forest Preserve District of Kane County and the Village of Carpentersville have an existing agreement for the maintenance of the silo and parking lot at the Raceway Woods Forest Preserve. In order to mediate the overflow of cars parking on the grass as well as across Rt. 31 and regulate safety, the District has provided a proposed design plan to expand the gravel parking lot at the District’s expense as an in-house project estimated to cost $24,000 in materials. Although not in the current fiscal year budget, funds will be made available in the General Fund.

VII. Communications

Community Affairs Dir. Metanchuk promoted the plant sale pick on Saturday May 1st, 2021 for the Forest Preserve Foundation. For those who did not purchase plants and would like to donate to the Foundation, payments can be made by visiting the website: kaneforestpreservefoundation.org. or checks made payable to the Forest Preserve Foundation.

Exec. Dir. Meyers promoted the upcoming Cleanup Day at the Pingree Grove Forest Preserve Friday, April 30, 2021 beginning at 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. anyone is welcome to participate. President Kious noted that April is construction safety month and for all to be alert while driving through construction zones.
