Sen. Don DeWitte (R- West Dundee) asked Central Management Services (CMS) during the Senate Appropriations Personnel and Procurement Committee hearing if they are expecting more payable backlogs for FY2022 apart from its over $1 billion current backlog.
CMS is seeking a total budget of $7.7 billion budget for FY 2022 reflecting an overall reduction of 1.2% from FY 2021, Jenelle Ford, director of CMS declared at the hearing.
“According to my analysis you show a $1.2 billion backlog with regarding to payables,” DeWitte said. “I’m assuming those are to providers. Will that backlog be growing again in FY 2022? Any comments on how you intend to address that backlog?”
The breakdown of the department’s budget request for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2021 are as follows: General Funds $1,921,832,600; Other State Funds $5,765,149,000; Total: $7,686,981,600.
Brewer added that CMS has been able to bring the hold cycle down considerably and they are expecting a small growth.
Central Management Services support Illinois in terms of shared resources to agencies, employees, and local government.
