5. Discussion Items:

a. Parameters for Citizen of the Year: Engaging Public Interest

Attendees discussed options for Citizen of the Year – including an individual winner and as a special recognition this year for a group/company winner. Qualifications for the winners were identified. Individual should live or work in Campton Hills. Group/Business should be in or service Campton Hills. So many individuals and groups/companies have contributed to the wellbeing of our community especially during COVID. We also have a great history of people who have served in the past and made significant contributions who could be nominated. We would like to recognize them.

With the new website and early promotion (Community Counts and newspaper), we hope to get more nominations to celebrate these citizens/groups.

A fillable nomination form could be placed on the website to make submissions easier and more accessible.

b. “Welcome Wagon” – Proposed initiative

Lisa Ayers with the Realtor Association of the Fox Valley, Inc. has been contacted regarding a request to share information about Campton Hills with the member realtors. It would be beneficial to have an email to all the realtors with a link to our new website and a link to our Campton Hills brochure.

We need to highlight the great features of Campton Hills including its recognition as one of the safest communities in Illinois and no municipal tax.

c. National Night Out:

Hoping to proceed as scheduled it is an outdoor event. The 1st Tuesday of August.

Consider utilizing a RSVP platform to help plan for the event. Registration would not be required as walk ins would be welcome.

d. Method of purchasing gift cards for Bingo Card winners, quantity, and place.

The winners of the Bingo Card game have been identified.

There were 5 $10 winners and 1 $50 winner.

The commission discussed the logistics of the purchase and distribution of the gift cards. Member Mohr and Member Wright will reach out to identify the winners’ preference for a restaurant gift card.
