City of Batavia Board of Fire & Police Commissioners met Sept. 1.

Pursuant to COVID-19 Executive Order No. 5 issued by the Governor of the State of Illinois dated March 16, 2020, and in the interest of public health and safety, this Board meeting will be held remotely. The Public was given the opportunity to join this meeting.

The meeting began at 4:00 p.m. No one from the Public was planning to attend.

Roll Call

Members Present: Chairman Nancy Vance; Secretary Dennis Anderson, Commissioner Randy Zies

Members Absent:

Others Present: Fire Chief Randy Deicke; Police Chief Daniel Eul: Recording Secretary Joanne Miller

PUBLIC COMMENTS

None.

APPROVE PREVIOUS MEETING MINUTES

Motion: To approve the August 4, 2020 regular meeting minutes.

Maker: Anderson

Second: Zies

Voice Vote: 3 Ayes, 0 Nays, 0 Absent. All in favor. Motion carried.

CORRESPONDENCE

None

NEW BUSINESS

Motion: To approve the Lieutenant Promotional Potential Rating and the Ascertained Merit update on the firefighter testing at COD.

Maker: Zies

Second: Anderson

Voice Vote: 3 Ayes, 0 Nays, 0 Absent. All in favor. Motion carried

Motion: To approve the 2021 Fire and Police Commission Budget.

Maker: Anderson

Second: Zies

Voice Vote: 3 Ayes, 0 Nays, 0 Absent. All in favor. Motion carried.

Motion: To approve the 2021 Meeting dates for the first Tuesday of every month at 4:00 p.m.

Maker: Zies

Second: Anderson

Voice Vote: 3 Ayes, 0 Nays, 0 Absent. All in favor. Motion carried

Motion: To approve that on September 7, 2020 Probationary Officers David Saad and Jose Barrera be certified by the Commission as being appoint as Permanent Full-Time Police

Officers. They have successfully completed their probation.

Voice Vote: 3 Ayes, 0 Nays, 0 Absent. All in favor. Motion carried

ADJOURNMENT

There being no further business to consider, a motion was made by Secretary Anderson to adjourn the meeting at 4:23 p.m. Seconded by Commissioner Zies. All in favor. Motion carried.

The meeting was adjourned at 4:23 p.m. The next regular meeting will be Tuesday, October 6, 2020, beginning at 4:00 p.m. This meeting will be held remotely via Zoom video conferencing.
