Elburn-Countryside FPD responds to 84 fires in 2018

Elburn-Countryside Fire Protection District responded to 274 calls in 2018 - 4.2 percent more than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Elburn-Countryside included 84 fires - 44 structure fires, eight vehicle fires and 32 other fires. The fire department also responded to two calls for ruptures, explosions or overheating.

In all, the department saw $570,676 in fire loss - or about $6,794 per fire.

The department also received 188 false calls, including seven malicious calls and 181 other false calls.

One fire service member was injured in fire-related incidents.

The Elburn-Countryside Fire Protection District had an annual budget of $6,173,060 in 2018.
