Sugar Grove FPD responds to 35 fires in 2018

Sugar Grove Fire Protection District responded to 144 calls in 2018 - 18.2 percent less than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Sugar Grove included 35 fires - 16 structure fires, five vehicle fires and 14 other fires. The fire department also responded to two calls for ruptures, explosions or overheating.

In all, the department saw $225,700 in fire loss - or about $6,449 per fire.

The department also received 107 false calls.

The Sugar Grove Fire Protection District had an annual budget of $4,107,838 in 2018.

The Sugar Grove FPD Firefighter's Pension Fund, which has 17 active employees and retired or inactive employee, was $204,476 positive as of April 2017, according to the fund's mandated filings with the Illinois Department of Insurance. That amounts to $3,932 for every fire in 2017.
