Cost of college went up for all students at Waubonsee Community College

In-state tuition and fees rose 10.7 percent for 2018-19 at Waubonsee Community College, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

Illinois residents paid $8,334 to attend the two-year public institution this year – $804 more than the $7,530 charged for 2017-18.

Non-resident students would have paid 8.4 percent more than residents this year, or $9,036. Non-resident tuition and fees grew 11.3 percent from $8,115 in 2017-18.

100 percent of the school's undergraduate population are Illinois residents.

Data shows 57 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 429 students received grants or scholarships totaling $2 million and 135 students took out student loans totaling more than $443,374.

Including all undergraduates (9,176), 2,964 students used grants or scholarships totaling $10.6 million, and 910 students took out $3.2 million in federal student loans.
