3. Environmental (J. Wollnik)

A. Fox River Study Group Meeting

Dir. Wollnik announced an upcoming event: the Fox River Study Group will meet on Thursday, January 23, 2020 at 9:30 AM at 682 State Route 31, in Oswego.

B. Fox River Ecosystem Partnership Noon Network

Dir. Wollnik announced the following event: the Fox River Ecosystem Partnership-Noon Network will be held on Wednesday, February 12, 2020 at noon at the Stephen D. Persinger Recreation Center, 3507 Kaneville Rd. in Geneva.

4. Recycling/Solid Waste (J. Jarland)

A. Presentation: New Items to Recycle in 2020

Staff Jarland shared two "new" recycling programs in 2020: clothing and American Flags. Jarland stated Electronics and clothing will now be collected at every recycling event.

B. Presentation: 2020 Green Guide Announcement

Staff Jarland promoted and distributed copies of the New 2020 Green Guide. It is the 30th Anniversary edition, has four new pages including Spanish guidelines.

5. Sustainability (J. Mino)

A. Fox Valley Sustainability Network Solar Energy Forum

Staff Mino promoted the Fox Valley Sustainability Network Forum on Friday, January 31, 2020 between 9:30 am-12 pm at the Centre of Elgin.

B. The Conservation Foundation's DuPage Environmental Summit

Staff Mino announced Urban Green Spaces, Climate Change and Adaption to be held Thursday, January 30, 2020 between 7:30 am-12:00 pm at the Northern Illinois University campus in Naperville.

C. Presentation: Electrical Aggregation Consultant Contract Renewal

Staff Mino noted the Electrical Aggregation contract will be up this year and listed several key points for wanting to renew. She introduced the following resolution stating it is at no cost to the county.

D. Resolution: Authorizing a Contract Extension for Electrical Aggregation Program Consultant with (NIMEC) Northern Illinois Municipal Electric Collaborative for a one-year term.

E. Presentation: Electrical Aggregation Options

Staff Mino reviewed a PowerPoint presentation included in the agenda packet with two options. The first option discussed was the traditional electrical aggregation’s bid process, the terms of the last contract with Dynegy emphasizing customers can opt in or out of the contract, (Hernandez arrives @ 9:15 am) a rate comparison and yearly average savings per household. Mino then reviewed option two, EcoGreen aggregation program, what is included, the cost structure and a comparison of the two. (Allan arrives @ 9:20 am). Committee members Kious and Sanchez asked that Sharon Durling, the consultant be invited to the February meeting. There was consensus from the committee to approve.

F. 20-01 LEED Grant App

Staff Mino announced the 2020 LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) grant opportunities for cities and communities. It is the most widely used green building rating system in the world and provides framework to create healthy, efficient, and cost saving green buildings. The deadline to apply is January 31, 2020. Decisions are expected to be announced on February 7, 2020. This grant package was worth 25k last year. Brief discussion followed.

G. Resolution: Endorsing the LEED for Cities and Communities Grant Application.
