Illinois State House District 83 issued the following announcement on April 2.
State Rep. Barbara Hernandez, D-Aurora, is encouraging residents in her district to fill out the 2020 U.S. Census form during their time at home.
“I know that these unprecedented times are causing a lot of disruption in families’ lives while we practice social distancing and adhere to the mandatory stay at home order,” said Hernandez. “During this time spent at home, I urge all residents to remember to fill out their 2020 census form and make sure everyone gets counted.”
Hernandez is encouraging all residents to fill out the 2020 census form. Most residents should have received information last month on how to complete the form online at My2020Census.gov. If residents have not yet completed the form online, they will be mailed a paper form or can complete the census over the phone by calling 1-844-330-2020.
“It is crucial that every person in our state gets counted in the 2020 census, because the results determine the direction of billions of dollars in federal funds to local communities for schools, roads and other public services,” said Hernandez. “Only one person from each household needs to fill out the form, but be sure to count every person living in the home, including infants and live-in friends or family members. Filling out the census form takes under 10 minutes and with the time we must spend at home right now in order to prevent spread of COVID-19, I hope every resident in my district can find the time to fill out their form.”
