Illinois State House District 66 issued the following announcement on Nov. 6
Residents of Illinois’ 66th Legislative House District are invited to join State Representative Allen Skillicorn for an informative panel discussion on “Inspiring Foster Care and Adoption.” This event is free and open to the public and will take place on Saturday, November 16 starting at 10am at the Thulin Auditorium in Thompson Hall at Judson University located at 1151 N. State Street in Elgin.
Joining the Representative will be Let It Be Us, a nonprofit that is changing the landscape of foster care and adoption in Illinois. Let It Be Us recruits foster and adoptive parents and coach them through the licensure process, increasing the number of families for Illinois waiting children. Their registry of licensed and waiting parents helps provide faster placements and better placements.
Skillicorn stated, “It is a privilege to host such an important forum for inspiring foster care and adoption to find loving homes for needy children in Illinois. Unfortunately, our state ranks at the bottom in acquiring permanent homes for waiting children. It is especially critical to avert the terrible tragedies we have seen in our area.”
