Illinois State House District 50 issued the following announcement on Sept. 13.
Senior citizens will have access to a wide variety of informational resources from local and state groups at a free Senior Health Fair Oct. 2 in Yorkville hosted by State Sen. Jim Oberweis (R-Sugar Grove) and State Rep. Keith Wheeler (R-Oswego).
The Senior Health Fair is scheduled from 9:00 a.m. to noon, Oct. 2, at the American Legion Hall, 9054 Veterans Parkway in Yorkville.
“Our Senior Health Fair provides a convenient one-stop setting for senior citizens and their families to gather information about health and safety issues. A variety of vendors will be on hand to discuss programs that benefit senior citizens,” Sen. Oberweis said. “It gives people an opportunity to talk with representatives from many different kinds of local and state groups.”
“Helping local seniors maintain a healthy and active lifestyle by accessing the tremendous range of local resources available to them is the goal of our Fair,” said Rep. Wheeler. “I encourage everyone to stop by and explore the many outstanding local programs and services available to seniors right here in our community.”
More than 35 vendors and agencies are scheduled to be on hand to provide information about programs like I-Cash, Utility Savings, Photo ID cards, Assisted Living, At-Home Care, and more. Free blood pressure screenings will be available, as well as information about hearing loss and hearing aids. Flu shots will be available free with Medicare B, or at a cost of $69.99 without.
