Illinois State Senate District 26 issued the following announcement on Aug. 5.
Property taxes are the number one issue raised by constituents said State Senator Dan McConchie (R-Hawthorn Woods), who was recently appointed to the newly formed Property Tax Relief Task Force.
Senate Bill 1932, which was signed into law on Friday, August 2, creates the Task Force in an effort to bring policy ideas forward that provide relief to Illinois homeowners.
“Illinois’ increasingly high property tax rates are driving residents out of their homes and too often out of the state,” said Sen. McConchie. “I look forward to serving on this very important task force, and hope that we can come up with solutions to one of Illinois’ largest out-migration factors.”
The Task Force is comprised of appointees made by the Governor and the leaders of the four legislative caucuses. Sen. McConchie was chosen as one of the representatives for the Senate Republican Caucus, appointed by Senate Minority Leader Bill Brady.
“Senator Dan McConchie will bring the insight and commitment we need to address this important issue,” said Senate Republican Leader Bill Brady.
The law requires the Task Force to submit an initial report of its recommendations to the General Assembly by December 31, 2019.
