City of St. Charles issued the following announcement on July 25.
We're getting a break from the heat today (Monday). But temperatures are expected to heat up again. If you're like most people, your air conditioner has been running overtime. Save energy and power costs by setting your thermostat a few degrees higher when you’re away and keeping the curtains closed during the hottest time of the day. While your usage most likely went up this summer, know that your rates actually went down thanks to the City’s Power Cost Adjustment Factor. In the first half of 2019, wholesale power prices consistently dropped, and we were able to pass the savings on to you.
