2018 Recap: Parolees in Aurora convicted of homicide

There were five offenders convicted of homicide released on parole in Aurora during 2018, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by the Kane County Reporter.

The data shows that four men and one woman were among the parolees. The median age of the parolees sentenced for homicide was 41. The youngest parolee was a 24-year-old man sentenced in 2017, and the oldest was a 54-year-old man sentenced in 2011.

The offender who was incarcerated the longest was Bessie Rowlen. She was convicted of homicide in 1990 when she was 24 years old. She is now 52.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.

The table below shows the 50 cities in Illinois with the most paroled offenders in 2018 who were convicted of homicide.
