City of Aurora issued the following announcement on Feb. 1.
The Aurora History Society will unveil the new Mayor Richard C. Irvin bobblehead collectible during tonight’s First Fridays festivities.
“Mayor Irvin made history when he was elected as the city's first African-American mayor," said Mary Clark Ormond, president of the Aurora Historical Society Board of Trustees. “Just in time for Black History Month, a bobblehead of Mayor Irvin will arrive at the Aurora Historical Society gift shop on February 1.”
Irvin will autograph bobbleheads from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. tonight during First Fridays festivities at the Aurora Historical Society Gift Shop in the Pierce Art and History Center, 20 E. Downer Place. The shop will be open for the event from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
The collectibles are $30 plus tax.
Regular hours for the shop are Wednesday-Saturday, Noon-4 p.m. Bobbleheads will also be available online at aurorahistory.net.
