CITY OF AURORA: Winter Weather Advisory - January 27

Snowwalk

City of Aurora issued the following announcement on Jan. 28.

Aurora is under a winter weather advisory until 6 p.m. on monday, january 28: Heavy and blowing snow is expected tonight with freezing drizzle and additional snow tomorrow. Snow rates overnight into early morning are likely to reach 1-2 inches per hour at times. This will result in very low visibility and rapid snow accumulations into the early morning commute. Total snow accumulations of up to 7 inches and ice accumulations are expected. The area will then enter a frigid cold streak with wind chills falling as low as -55 degrees at points throughout the week.

The Aurora Snow Team will have continuous operations on all snow routes during the storm - with a focus and priority on primary roadways and major thoroughfares. With additional assistance from local contractors, residential operations will commence toward the end of the snow event. With the expected intensity and rate of the snowstorm, snow covered roads can be expected during the morning commute as the Aurora Snow Team works to clear them. Please be patient with the process.
