Kane County Public Health Committee met May 16.

A. April Public Health Committee Financial Reports
The monthly financial reports were included in the agenda packet. Finance staff Waggoner reviewed the areas that were trending a little high, noting each fund has enough cash balance to cover the expenditures. There are no concerns to report at this time.

A. Flash Report
Staff Isaacson provided an update on the SB2332. He reviewed survey results from Kane County residents on the ordinance noting feedback has been positive. They will continue to act locally and provide updates. Exec. Dir. Jeffers shared highlights from the monthly Flash Report included in the agenda packet. She discussed the Opioid Conference held at Wabaunsee Community College on May 2. She shared concerns over the warmer weather bringing mosquitoes and the transmission of viruses. Jeffers covered methods of prevention, noting there will be a higher mosquito population this year. Smith expressed his concern with the heavy rainfall creating standing water in crop fields, which promotes larva growth. Jeffers referred to the presentation on Larvicide; staff will be applying it in all areas of concern. (Thomas arrives at 9:25 a.m. making a quorum present.)
B. Resolution: Authorizing the Purchase of Naloxone Nasal Spray
This authorizes a contract with Cardinal Health Inc. to purchase Narcan medication. Funding for this purchase is through a grant.

Monthly reports were included in the agenda packet. Admin. Youngsteadt reported their revenue continues to exceed expenses. He promoted the next vaccine clinic on May 23. Youngsteadt mentioned they will continue to push for senior connections in order to provide these services for county residents on fixed incomes.
B. Resolution: Authorizing Personnel Replacement Hiring, Kane County Animal Control Part Time Kennel Assistants
This authorizes Kane County Animal Control Department to hire a replacement to fill two part-time Kennel Assistant Positions within the department.
