West Dundee FD responds to 29 fires in 2017

West Dundee Fire Department responded to 150 calls in 2017 - 3.8 percent less than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in West Dundee included 29 fires - 18 structure fires and 11 other fires.

In all, the department saw $14,350 in fire loss - or about $495 per fire.

The department also received 121 false calls, including four malicious calls and 117 other false calls.

One fire service member was injured in non fire-related incidents.

The West Dundee Fire Department had an annual budget of $13,852 in 2017.

The West Dundee Firefighters Pension Fund, which has eight active employees and 10 retired or inactive employees, was $390,372 in debt as of April 2016, according to the fund's mandated filings with the Illinois Department of Insurance. That amounts to $8,133 for every fire in 2016.
