Sugar Grove FPD responds to 52 fires in 2017

Sugar Grove Fire Protection District responded to 176 calls in 2017 - 15.8 percent more than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Sugar Grove included 52 fires - 22 structure fires, six vehicle fires and 24 other fires. The fire department also responded to three calls for ruptures, explosions or overheating.

In all, the department saw $271,200 in fire loss - or about $5,215 per fire.

The department also received 121 false calls.

The calls resulted in one civilian fire-related injury.

The Sugar Grove Fire Protection District had an annual budget of $3,328,848 in 2017.

The Sugar Grove FPD Firefighter's Pension Fund, which has 17 active employees and retired or inactive employee, was $65,286 positive as of April 2016, according to the fund's mandated filings with the Illinois Department of Insurance. That amounts to $1,674 for every fire in 2016.
