East Dundee-Countryside Fire Protection District responded to 316 calls in 2017 - 0.3 percent more than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in East Dundee-Countryside included 54 fires - 36 structure fires, nine vehicle fires and nine other fires. The fire department also responded to one call for ruptures, explosions or overheating.

In all, the department saw $159,431 in fire loss - or about $2,952 per fire.

The department also received 261 false calls.

The calls resulted in one civilian fire-related death. Additionally, five fire service member were injured in non fire-related incidents.
