Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) records show that 71.0 percent of Bartlett High School's (BHS) 2015 graduating class enrolled in college within 12 months of graduation.

The 2015 state average for students in public schools was 70 percent.

For BHS, its college-enrollment rate marks a decline since 2014, when 73.1 percent of its graduates chose post-secondary education.

Among other high schools in Kane County, the Class of 2015 college-enrollment rate at Batavia Senior High School (73.4 percent) was higher than that of BHS. Rates at Harry D. Jacobs High School (62.6 percent), Kaneland Senior High School (53.4 percent), South Elgin High School (50.6 percent),  Duquoin High School (47.1 percent), Larkin High School (22.9 percent), Elgin High School (25.0 percent), Streamwood High School (29.9 percent) and Hampshire High School (52.6 percent) were all lower.

The data, collected by the National Student Clearinghouse, includes two- and four-year colleges.

Enrollment at BHS in 2015 was 2,533; 636 (25.11 percent) were seniors.

ISBE said 54.3 percent of BHS seniors were "college ready" in 2015, vs. an average of 46 percent statewide.

All students who score a 21 or higher on the ACT qualify as "college ready."

BHS students did better in math (51.5 percent) and English (71.0 percent) and worse in science (44.0) and reading (44.9).

Only 31.3 percent of BHS students were college ready in all four subjects, ISBE said.
