The St. Charles Fire Department will carry out hydrant flow testing at 3755 Illinois Ave. on Wednesday, October 22, 2025. The testing is scheduled to start at about 9:30 a.m. and is expected to conclude by 10:30 a.m.
Residents in the area may notice rust in their water during or shortly after the testing. According to the department, "The water is safe; however you may want to refrain from doing laundry until the water is clear." If laundry becomes discolored due to rusty water, residents are advised to keep the clothing wet and contact the Public Works Department at 630-377-4405 to request a rust-removing solution packet.
The department also recommends that drivers exercise caution when passing through areas where hydrant flushing is taking place, as water may be present on the pavement.
