Geneva’s curbside leaf collection program will begin in late October and continue through November. The city has contracted Kramer Tree Specialists to carry out three collection cycles in each of Geneva’s three leaf pickup zones this fall. Residents can find a map of the zones, a detailed schedule, and further information on the City’s website.

The collection schedule may change if there is bad weather, a large amount of leaves, or equipment problems. Each zone requires several days for pickup.

To keep up with the contractor’s progress, residents can check the City’s curbside leaf map online, which is updated every weekday morning. The City encourages people to monitor its website for any updates to the schedule.

Residents are required to rake their leaves to the parkway parallel to the street and about 12 inches behind the curb or pavement edge by 7 a.m. on their scheduled Monday. The City warns that “Raking leaves into the street or curb/gutter can clog storm sewers, which can later result in street flooding.”

Leaves that are placed on the parkway after crews have already passed will not be collected until the next scheduled date.

After curbside collection ends, Geneva offers a leaf bag program in December. Residents should place leaves in brown yard waste bags without adding other yard waste, mulch, or grass clippings. Waste stickers are not needed for these bags. Bags should be placed outside with regular garbage on refuse collection days. LRS crews will make their final pickup during the week of December 22.

For more information about both programs or for questions, residents can contact Geneva’s Public Works Department at 630-232-1501. Full details are also available on the City’s website.
