The Fox Valley Marathon is scheduled to take place on Sunday, September 21, 2025, in St. Charles, Illinois. The event will start at Mt. St. Mary’s Park and proceed south to Aurora before returning to the original starting point.
According to organizers, the race will begin at 7 a.m., with runners leaving Mt. St. Mary’s Park via the Prairie Street Bridge. The course includes both southbound and northbound routes along Riverside Avenue (IL Rt. 25). The northbound route will continue toward the Illinois Street Bridge and then head south on 1st Street to Geneva Road (IL Rt. 31). Additional road closures are expected as participants return to St. Charles on the east side of the river.
Several streets in St. Charles will be affected by closures during the marathon:
From 6:45 a.m. to 7:45 a.m., the following roads will be closed:
- The Illinois Street Bridge from S. 1st St. to Riverside Ave.
- 1st St. from Illinois St. to Geneva Rd.
- Geneva Rd. (IL Rt. 31) from Prairie St., south to the St. Charles/Geneva border.
- Riverside Ave. from Illinois Ave. to Division Ave.
- No parking will be allowed on 1st St., between Illinois St. and Prairie St.
From 6:45 a.m. until approximately 1:30 p.m., additional closures include:
- Prairie Street Bridge, just east of 1st Street to Riverside Avenue
- The southern sidewalk of the Illinois Street Bridge
- No event parking permitted in the Whole Food’s Parking Lot at 300 S. 2nd Street
Police officers and Emergency Management personnel will be stationed at key points along the route for traffic control and public safety.
"Motorists are advised to expect delays when traveling throughout the city," officials said in a statement regarding preparations for race day traffic management efforts.
They added, "Watch for runners, spectators, and emergency responders assisting with the event." Drivers are also reminded not to drive distracted during this time.
The annual marathon is expected to impact travel through downtown St Charles for much of Sunday morning into early afternoon as participants make their way through local neighborhoods.
