Main Street in St. Charles will be closed temporarily on Friday, September 12, 2025, for the annual St. Charles North High School Homecoming Parade. The closure will affect Main Street (IL Rt. 64) from 5th Avenue (IL Rt. 25) east of the river to 7th Street on the west side.
According to city officials, police will implement a detour route beginning at 12:45 p.m., with normal traffic expected to resume around 1:30 p.m.
Westbound drivers will be directed either north on IL Rt. 25 to the Red Gate Bridge or south to Illinois Avenue before heading west across the river to 7th Street. Eastbound drivers can take either a northern route via State Street and IL Rt. 31 to Red Gate Bridge or a southern detour using Illinois Street and IL Rt. 25.
Parking along Main Street on the parade route is not permitted during the event.
Police and Emergency Management Personnel will assist with traffic direction at key locations throughout the affected area. Motorists should expect delays while traveling in St. Charles during this time period.
"Police remind drivers to use care and to be watchful of pedestrians," according to city officials.
