The City of Geneva’s Natural Resources Committee is organizing its annual Fox River Clean Up Day on Saturday, September 20, from 9 a.m. to noon. The committee is seeking volunteers to assist in removing debris from both the river and surrounding park areas.
Volunteers who are comfortable working in the river will meet at the Fabyan Forest Preserve parking lot, which can be accessed from Route 25 just south of the Fabyan Windmill. Those who prefer to remain on land can join a separate group at Island Park, located at 2 E. State St., near the playground by the spillway.
Maps with details about work locations and parking options have been made available by the committee. Volunteers are advised to wear old clothes, gloves, and boots for safety and comfort while participating in cleanup activities. Supplies such as garbage bags, water, snacks, washing stations, and canoes will be provided.
