FOIA Request to Office of West Dundee Village President regarding law firm contracts and invoices on June 18, 2025.
The Kane County Reporter has submitted a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the Office of West Dundee Village President. The request seeks access to all copies of contracts with the entity's law firms and all invoices submitted by these law firms over the past six months. This request was made under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act, 5 ILCS 140, with a preference for receiving the documents in electronic format.
The purpose of this request is to facilitate comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs. As part of our commitment to transparency and accountability, we aim to gather information that will enable us to report effectively on public institutions. Given our role as media professionals, we have requested a fee waiver based on our eligibility under FOIA provisions.
Additionally, it is noted that the requester is affiliated with The Coalition Opposing Governmental Secrecy, a non-profit organization dedicated to assisting media companies and advocacy groups in investigating governmental agencies through FOIA and Sunshine Laws. More information about this organization can be found at https://stopsecrecy.org/about/.
We look forward to receiving this information in an electronic format as it will greatly aid in our reporting efforts. As always, we remain open for any questions or clarifications regarding this request.
