The Kane County Division of Transportation is undertaking significant road improvement projects in the Village of Gilberts. The projects focus on Tyrrell Road and Galligan Road, aiming to address operational, capacity, and safety concerns.

Crawford, Murphy & Tilly, Inc. has been engaged for Phase I engineering services on Tyrrell Road from Raymond Rd to Mason Rd. This project involves a comprehensive study including crash analysis, traffic demand projections, and environmental studies. "The primary objective of this improvement is to identify and analyze operational, capacity and safety concerns of the corridor and develop a preferred alternative to address any feasible needs," according to the project overview. Pedestrian and bicycle accommodations are being considered as part of these improvements.

Baxter & Woodman, Inc. has been contracted for Phase I and II design engineering services on Galligan Road from Binnie Road to Freeman Road. This project also includes crash analysis and environmental studies such as wetland delineation and noise analysis. The cross-section will be widened with an additional bi-directional turn lane but no new through lanes are planned. "The need for this improvement is driven by increasing traffic queues which have reached unacceptable levels of service during peak periods," states the project overview.

Both projects may require land acquisition but do not anticipate residential or commercial displacements.
