FOIA Request to Kane County Il Clerk Elections Division Regarding Upcoming Election Candidates on February 5, 2025.
As part of our ongoing commitment to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at the Kane County Reporter have sent a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the Kane County Il Clerk Elections Division. The request was made in accordance with the Illinois Freedom of Information Act, 5 ILCS 140.
Our request seeks a list of all candidates running for the upcoming election. We have asked for detailed information about each candidate including their first, middle and last names, the office they are running for, jurisdiction of the office and party affiliation.
In addition to this, we have also requested contact information for each candidate which includes their address, phone number and email address. This information is crucial in ensuring transparency and accountability during election periods.
As a media organization dedicated to gathering and reporting news to the public, access to public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. These include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. We believe that as media professionals disseminating information to the public, we are eligible for a fee waiver.
We await a response from the Kane County Il Clerk Elections Division and will continue our efforts in providing accurate and timely information regarding local governmental affairs.
