State Representative Dan Ugaste (R-Geneva) is collaborating with the South Elgin Police Department for a Prescription Drug Drop Off Event on Tuesday, August 13, from 9-11 a.m. The event will take place at the South Elgin Police Department, located at 10 N. Water St., South Elgin.

This free outdoor event allows residents to remain in their vehicles while safely disposing of unused, unwanted, or expired prescription drugs. Participants are encouraged to bring medications in a sealed plastic bag if possible.

“I invite everyone to utilize this opportunity to safely dispose of these substances that can become dangerous when in the wrong hands,” stated Rep. Ugaste. “Thank you to the South Elgin Police Department for hosting this important event.”

Accepted items for disposal include tablets, capsules, and other solid forms of prescription drugs; patches, vaping devices and cartridges with lithium batteries removed; prescription ointments, pet medications, and vitamins. Restricted items that will not be accepted include liquids such as intravenous solutions; syringes, needles, and illegal drugs.
