City of Geneva Fire and Police Commission met March 4
Here are the minutes provided by the commission:
1. Call to order – Chair McMahon called the meeting to order at 11:30am
PRESENT: Chair Jennifer McMahon, Commissioner Todd Augustine & Commissioner Ernie Belmonte
ABSENT: None
Also present: Eric Passarelli – Police Chief, Michael Antenore – Geneva Fire Chief, Lauren Newton – HR Manager City of Geneva, Nick Partipilo - Administrative Analyst City of Geneva.
2. Items of Business
a. Approval of Regular Session Minutes from January 8, 2024. So moved by Commissioner Augustine, Seconded by Commissioner Belmonte and unanimously approved by all present.
3. Public Comment – None
4. Old Business - None
5. New Business
a. Discussion of the upcoming Police hiring process and timeline. Chief Passarelli and Ms. Newton advised the board that they recommended the use of IOS Testing Services. They noted the exam would occur the week of May 13th and that the test would be virtual. They also recommended no exam fee based on what we see other municipalities doing.
b. Commissioner Belmonte motioned to approve the testing schedule as presented, the use of IOS Testing Services and the waiving of any application fees for this exam. The motion was Seconded by Commissioner Augustine and unanimously approved by all present.
6. Closed Session – Commissioner Belmonte motioned to enter into Executive Session at 11:58am. The motion was Seconded by Commissioner Augustine and unanimously approved by all present.
a. For the purpose of discussing: i. the appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of a specific employee [5 ILCS 120/2(c)(1)]; ii. pending or probable litigation against, affecting, or on behalf of the public body [5 ILCS 120/2(c)(11)]; iii. discussion of minutes of meetings lawfully closed under the Open Meetings Act [5 ILCS 120/2(c)(21)].
Commissioner Belmonte motioned to exit out of Executive Session at 2:58pm. The motion was Seconded by Commissioner Augustine and unanimously approved by all present.
7. Set Future Meeting – March 11th, 2024
8. Adjournment - Commissioner Augustine moved to adjourn the meeting at 2:59pm, seconded by Commissioner Belmonte and unanimously approved by all present.
