Maintenance work on the Civic Centre Parking Deck in Elgin is scheduled to begin on Wednesday, October 29 and continue through Wednesday, November 12. The project will involve pressure washing and painting, resulting in limited parking availability during this period. The maintenance will be carried out in two phases.
All vehicles and items with wheels must be removed from the deck by 7 a.m. on October 29.
During Phase 1, which runs from October 29 to November 5, the Symphony Way entrance and all levels above it will remain open. However, the area from the Symphony Way entrance down to the basement will be closed, as well as the Douglas Avenue entrance.
Phase 2 is set for November 5 through November 12. In this phase, the Symphony Way entrance and all levels above it will be closed. The Douglas Avenue entrance will reopen, along with parking available from the Symphony entrance down. As work progresses and paint cures, sections of the deck will reopen starting from lower levels upwards. Weekend parking will remain available throughout Phase 2.
Electronic message boards at Grove Avenue and Kimball Street as well as Douglas Avenue and Symphony Way intersections are being used to inform drivers about limited parking options.
Residents and visitors are encouraged to use alternate parking locations during construction: City Hall Lot at 120 E. Highland Ave., Old Library Lot at 200 N. Grove Ave., Spring Street Parking Deck at 200 E. Chicago St., and Fulton Parking Deck at 225 Fulton St.
