City of Geneva Board of Police and Fire Commission met Nov. 14.

Here are the minutes provided by the commission:

1. Call to Order

Chair McMahon called the meeting to order at 5:00pm.

PRESENT: Chair Jennifer McMahon, Commissioner Ernie Belmonte, Commissioner Todd Augustine.

ALSO PRESENT: Fire Chief Michael Antenore, Lauren Newton – HR Manager - City of Geneva 

ABSENT: NONE

2. Items of Business

a. Approval of the meeting minutes from the September 12th, 2023 regularly scheduled meeting. Commissioner Augustine made a motion to approve the minutes, seconded by Commissioner Belmonte and unanimously approved by all present.

b. Approval of the meeting minutes from the September 12th 2023 Executive Session. Commissioner Augustine made a motion to approve the minutes, seconded by Commissioner Belmonte and unanimously approved by all present.

3. Public Comment - None

4. Old/Unfinished Business - None

5. New Business

a. Fire Lieutenant Eligibility Roster –Chief Antenore provided an update on the status of the Fire Lieutenants roster process, testing and current candidates. The hope to have a list by early January.

b. Firefighter Eligibility Roster –Chief Antenore advised the Board that the plan to work with both the cities of St. Charles and Batavia on a joint Firefighter testing date has been scrapped as we have immediate openings while the other communities still have applicants on their respective lists. As we need to move quickly the board agreed to the use of Online Testing to help facilitate the process. Both the Chief and Lauren Newton addressed the board regarding the next steps regarding the online process and we await any further status updates.

7. Future Meeting – Scheduled for January 9th, 2024

8. Adjournment

Commissioner Augustine moved to adjourn the meeting at 5:41pm, seconded by Commissioner Belmonte and unanimously approved by all present.
