The Aurora University baseball team opened the 2023 season with a come from behind 8-6 victory over Penn State Abington in the opening game of the spring trip in Auburndale Florida. AU scored eight runs in the last two innings for the win.

How it happened- The Spartans loaded the bases in the second behind two walks and a hit by pitch but couldn't push across a run.- PSU-Abington scored a run in the fourth to take a 1-0 lead.
- AU starter Jack Fisher struck out 10 and allowed just one run over five innings of action.
- The first hit for AU came in the top of the sixth off the bat of Josh Reinhardt. The Spartans loaded the bases but again stranded them.
- Abington scored three times in the sixth and another in the seventh to take a 5-0 lead.
- Two out bingo worked for AU in the eighth thanks to free passes.
- The Spartans scored three times but would leave the bases loaded for a fourth time in the game.
- Going to the bottom of the eight, AU trailed 5-3.
- Jacob Ambuel threw out a tagging runner at the plate to end the bottom of the eight and keep AU within two.
- With one out in the ninth, Reinhardt singled to start a run of five consecutive hits.
- After a Collin Meinert double, Derek Angelo drove in his second and third runs of the game with a single to tie the game.
- Dominick Curcio singled ahead of leadoff man Nico Bermeo. Bermeo launched a long home run to give the Spartans an 8-5 lead.
- Abington scored a run in the ninth but Carlos Garcia came on to shut the door for the 8-6 AU win.
