Batavia United Way (BUW) has been busy this month! On Sunday, November 6, over 100 volunteers through BUW fanned out across Batavia to rake 24 yards for senior citizens, veterans, and people with physical limitations who would have had difficulty doing it for themselves. Volunteers were happy to help and recipients were grateful for the assistance.
BUW is launching two additional initiatives to support our neighbors. The fall Double Your Donation campaign has kicked off in which all community donations are being matched by local businesses including Ron Murphy Dental, A Accurate Door Service, Inc., Advanced Windows & Siding, First State Bank, KW Inspire: Mary Bruno & Kari Edwards, and Fontana Capital Partners. BUW has set a goal to raise $20,000. The other initiative is for Giving Tuesday. All donations received on November 29 (Giving Tuesday) will be matched by an anonymous donor in order to provide hot meals for Lazarus House during January and February.
