History made as Spartan men win NACC Tournament

The Aurora University men's soccer team hosted Benedictine University for the NACC Tournament Championship. The Spartans defeated the Eagle 4-0 to win the NACC Tournament for the first time in program history and NACC history. AU will now move on to the NCAA Division III Tournament.

RECORDS: Aurora University 10-3-6 overall and 8-2-3 in the NACC; Benedictine University 10-7-4 overall and 7-3-1 in the NACC

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Spartans scored first 7:28 into the contest. Connor Erickson scored off a header from a perfectly placed corner kick by Eduardo Carrillo.
- The remainder of the first-half went by quickly as Aurora dominated the time of possession and lead 1-0 going into half-time.
- The second-half kept the fans on the edge of their seats as the physical play intensified with numerous penalties. 
- AU's leading scorer, Enrique Gonzalez extended the Spartans lead 2-0 off assists from Sal Garcia and Brandon Dolezal.
- The Spartans kept the pressure on taking multiple shots on goal.
- Spartan Anthony Marmolejo joined in on the scoring action and tallied his first goal of the night on an assist from Enrique Gonzalez. 
- With a 1:55 left on the clock, Enrique Gonzalez scored his second goal of the night and AU led 4-0. He was assisted by Jose Castro
- Spartan keeper Jalen Depenbrock and his defensive teammates were able to keep the Eagles from finding the back of the AU net and was victorious with a 4-0 shutout.
