The search for the 'coolest thing made in Illinois' has begun.
The Illinois Manufacturers' Association is holding its third annual Makers Madness contest. Through March 20, the public can start voting on the "coolest thing made in Illinois." The winner will be declared on April 27.
"It's time for the Illinois Manufacturers' Association's annual Makers Madness contest! Nominate a locally-made product from right here in the Fox Valley today for a chance for it to be named the "coolest thing made in Illinois,'" Rep. Keith Wheeler (R-North Aurora) posted on Facebook.
"We have everything it takes to be successful," IMA President and CEO Mark Denzler told Patch. "We have a modern infrastructure system, we have great colleges and universities, we have an educated workforce, we have reliable and low-cost energy, and we are the only state in the nation with all seven Class 1 railroads,"
The winner will be featured on the IMA website, receive an award, and enjoy a company celebration with IMA.
Last year's winner of the Makers Madness contest was the self-regulating traffic signal heater manufactured by Termico Technologies in Elk Grove Village.
Any product can be nominated as long as it is manufactured in Illinois. Nominations can be submitted through March 20 at www.makersmadnessil.com.
